FAQs

What size storage unit should I rent?

It can be difficult to estimate how much space you need. It will depend on the amount, size and shape of your furniture and goods and how tightly the goods are packed into the space. The dimensions of each of the four sized units are available here. Typically, the following sizes apply:

  • 12 cubic metres fits a 1 bedroom apartment
  • 19 cubic metres fits a 2 bedroom apartment
  • 38 cubic metres fits a 3 bedroom house
  • 76 cubic metres fits a 4 or 5 bedroom house

On your move in day, if you find the size you booked is too small or too large you can swap to a different sized unit, provided we have availability.

How far in advance can I reserve a space?

You can book as far in advance as you like. Payment is due on booking.

Do I need a lock for my space?

No, we provide the lock and one key.

How do I get the key to my storage unit?

There is a key safe at the main gate. The day before you have booked to move in, we will email and text you the details for accessing the key safe and opening the front gate.

When can I access my storage unit?

Any time during the access hours of 6am – 9pm.

Note that customers with overdue accounts may have their gate access disabled and their lock changed or overlocked until their account is up to date.

When is my rental payment due?

Unless you pay for a year upfront, storage payments are due monthly on a specific payment date that varies based on the date your rental started.

How do I pay?

We accept payment by Visa and Mastercard. Credit card payments are usually automatically charged on the 1st/10th /20th of each month. A credit card processing fee of 0.85% is charged.

If you want to pay by direct transfer from your bank account (EFT), you will need the following bank account details:
Name: Store it cheap
BSB: 083 644
Account no: 17 857 1716

If you pay by EFT, we recommend that you set up an automatic payment so you don’t miss a payment.

Do I get a discount for paying a number of months in advance?

We only offer a discount for 12 months upfront. But if you don’t need a full 12 months, you can pay for the year and when you move out you get a prorated refund for the period you didn’t use. Otherwise, the usual payment arrangement is monthly in advance.

I want to vacate my container, what do I do?

There is a 14-day notice period for vacating your unit. On your departure date, you need to leave your unit empty and clean. Return the key by leaving it in the black mailbox, which is under the key-safe by the front gate. We will know the key is yours, so you don't need to leave a note. We will then reconcile your account and credit any refund to your credit card or bank account.
